The cross was not your tragedy — it was your treasure.

The One Sacrifice That Never Expires
Calvary was not a crisis that God scrambled to redeem at the last minute. It was a covenant transaction, planned before the foundation of the world. Jesus did not merely endure the cross — on His way to it, at the table the night before, He lifted the cup and gave thanks (Luke 22:17). Before the nails, before the thorns, before the spear — He gave thanks. In the Old Testament, there were many kinds of sacrifice: for sin, for guilt, for peace. The ancient rabbis taught that when the Messiah comes and sin is finally dealt with, every one of those sacrifices will end — except one. The Todah, the thanksgiving offering, will continue forever.
The other sacrifices existed to fix a problem. The cross fixed that problem, once, completely, for all time — “It is finished,” Jesus said. But thanksgiving was never about fixing a problem. It was always about celebrating who God is. That is why gratitude does not expire when the debt is paid. So many believers keep bringing the same confession back to God over and over, as though the sacrifice needs repeating. But Hebrews tells us Christ offered Himself once, for all time — the guilt offering is finished. What remains, what will never be finished, is your thanksgiving for the fact that it is finished.
What This Means For You Today
Romans 5:8 declares: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Healing. Peace. Righteousness. All of it purchased at Calvary. Before you present a single request to God today, stop. Thank Him for the cross specifically — not generally, but by name. Thank Him that by those stripes, healing is already yours.
A Practical Step
First, speak it aloud: “Father, I thank You for the cross, by name, today.” Second, name one specific thing the cross purchased that you need right now — healing, peace, forgiveness — and thank Him for it as already yours. Third, remember that this particular thanksgiving never expires; keep offering it, every day, for the rest of your life.
